Industrial & Automotive

This segment, comprises contribution from the industrial and automotive industries, is not yet a major contributor in revenue terms for the Group but is an important contributor to the bottom-line. The business segment also include services such as metal stamping, supply of jigs and fixtures, production of customised cutting tools and machining of sintered industrial parts.

In the automotive segment, the Group is very much focused on Electronic Braking System components which are high volume due to the need for at least multiple hydraulic parts per EBS set thus in amounting to millions of components per month requirement.

Electronic braking systems are rapidly gaining share in the automotive industry as vehicle makers look to benefits of improved performance at low cost. The growth in electronic braking is being driven by the trickle-down of ABS (anti-lock braking system) and ESP (electronic stability system) from luxury to mass-market segments across the world. While ABS prevents vehicle wheels from locking during braking, and traction control stops the wheels from spinning on acceleration, ESP reduces the risk of skidding in all traffic situations. Although ESP is already standard equipment on many luxury cars, an increasing number of mid-range and small-cars are being fitted with the unit as optional fitment.

There are currently 5 major manufacturers of EBS in the world and they consists of Advics (Japan), Robert Bosch, Continental Corporation, Delphi and TRW Automotive Holdings Corporation.

This business segment is expected to include also contribution from electro-less nickel plating services, a finishing process, which coats the HDD components with a thin layer of nickel. The introduction of this service is mainly part of the Group's strategy to cut cost and keep vital processes within the Group.
